Agent Orange
Herbicide orange otherwise known as Agent orange is a chemical that can remove the leaves from trees and the United States used it in Vietnam to see there enemies through the trees. It changed the war in a lot of ways because they had never had any type of chemical that could help soldiers see enemies easier in the environment that they were fighting in. The United states went into Vietnam in 1955 many people think that, the Vietnam War was an attempt by the United States to suppress a heroic Vietnamese national liberation movement that had driven French colonialism out of its country or it was a tragic mistake brought about by U.S. leaders who exaggerated the influence of communism and underestimated the power of nationalism.
The chemical is made out of two common herbicides 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T. Its was made by Monsanto in 1965 and was given to the U.S. military for use in wars. The scientists who made chemicals like agent orange are called chemical engineers and they needed to have a degree in chemical engineering. The Monsanto company had been put as a wartime government contractor for there product Agent orange, The U.S. government thought it was one of the best herbicides for war at the time.
Many people disagreed with the use of Agent orange and didn't like what Monsanto had made. Many people were outraged and protested against Monsanto. Some made cartoons, videos and many more things to try and get there point across.

This political cartoon shows "Monsanto Claus" and he is giving Vietnam, agent orange as a present in a sense. And it says that Monsanto Claus is giving it to Vietnam to help eradicate communism. Another symbolic item in this cartoon is that Monsanto Claus is the grim reaper depicted by him being a skeleton and having a scythe.
